Happy new year: what’s going on with Tankette Publishing?

Hey there and happy new year to all of you!

In case you’re wondering: Tankette Publishing does still exist but will offer all of its stuff for free. At least for now. Until a big company will buy all of our stuff and make the biggest and baddest wargame of all out of it. But then I will mostly step aside. This is a hobby. Making a game just for fun. That’s what it was all about in the beginning. It turned into sales numbers, page views and all of that stuff I already (partially) deal with in my line of work as a PR Manager. No desire to push that any further. Too many things are done for money these days.

However, I will upload all the unit tokens you were able to buy on Wargame Vault to this page. For free. Grab the stuff. A big thank you if you bought any of the stuff and a big sorry that you can get it now for free. At least your contribution helped to hire a freelancer to design the Burst of Fire manual and the freelance designers who made the fabulous artworks for our unit tokens. As I said, grab the stuff as soon as it is online on this page. Play your favorite wargames (preferably Burst of Fire) with it.

Also, I am planning to do a fantasy version of Burst of Fire. Orcs vs. humans vs. skeletons vs. elves – yeah something like that. Sadly I will have to rely on AI art. I have dug deep into my pockets and spent about 10.000 dollars on Assault Tactics and Burst of Fire. Now that there is no revenue stream anymore (and it was veeery small, haha) I have to look for very cost efficient ways to further develop my games. Heck, I even contemplated to shut this website down. For now it will stay on.

But this text is not meant to be dark. On the contrary. The bright side: I am having fun again. Ideas. And fun. Oh and fun. So let’s see what the future will hold. I am really looking forward to Burst of Fire fantasy. The existing rules have to be adapted. It will take a lot of time. And not to forget Burst of Fire World War 2. There are army lists to be made for Great Britain, Italy, Romania, Japan and many more. The solo module has to be improved somehow. But by March the subscription for the table plugin for WordPress will end. Not sure how to compensate that, but there will be a solution. Not right away but somewhere down the road.
